Thailand celebrated the Scandinavian Airlines’ inaugural direct flight from Copenhagen to Bangkok after a 10-year absence.

Thailand welcomes the launch of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) direct flights from Copenhagen, Denmark to Bangkok. On this special occasion, SAS and TAT together with Copenhagen Airports held a welcoming reception for the first group of passengers who traveled to Bangkok on the inaugural flight at Kastrup Airport on 30 October 2023.

On the evening of Tuesday 31 October 2023, SAS Flight SK973 from Copenhagen touched down at Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. The welcome ceremony was presided over by Mr. Siripakorn Cheawsamoot, TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and the Americas, Mr. Nithee Seeprae, TAT Deputy Governor for Marketing Communications, Mrs. Tina Szczyrbak, SAS Airlines Brand Activation Manager and Mr. Anders Wahlström, SAS Regional General Manager of Asia & Pacific.

While many people enjoy the natural beauty of Thailand and the many opportunities for outdoor activities, Thailand is also known for its rich culture and history. Scandinavian travellers will be able to enjoy their favorite holiday destination with SAS. Departure from Copenhagen is convenient and has a good connection from other Scandinavian countries. To boost arrivals from Scandinavia, the TAT Stockholm Office is also cooperating with SAS on a range of marketing promotions and publicities. As part of the Winter 2023/2024 program, SAS will continue its three-times-weekly services to Bangkok scheduled from 30 October 2023 to 2 April 2024, using the Airbus A350 aircraft, offering passengers a unique and more sustainable travel experience. This aircraft has a much lower fuel consumption and up to 30 percent lower CO2 emissions than previous comparable aircraft.
